HSBC UK donates to cancer research UK’s life-saving work
Cancer Research UK has today announced a generous donation from HSBC UK, a longstanding supporter of its life-saving work.
Thanks to this latest donation, Cancer Research UK will be able to fund more vital research so that more people, now and in the future, can have more precious time with their loved ones.
Chief executive of Cancer Research UK, Michelle Mitchell, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to HSBC UK for their continued generosity and support for our work. They share our vision to bring about a world where everybody can live longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer and this latest donation will help us fund more life-saving research that will benefit people affected by cancer and their loved ones.”
Chief executive of HSBC UK, Ian Stuart, said: “Nearly one in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetimes, including many of our customers and colleagues. Cancer Research UK’s pioneering work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has helped save millions of lives, and we are proud to once again pledge our support for their vital research.”
This generous gift is one of many that HSBC UK has made to Cancer Research UK over the course of their partnership. Over nearly 20 years of working together, donations from HSBC UK have helped Cancer Research UK fund life-saving research – including a donation in 2015 to support 150 PhD students at the Francis Crick Institute. The work of these students has contributed to the understanding of health and disease, and opened up ways to better prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.
