HSBC UK Glasgow branch reopens with brand new look and feel

  • Glasglow branch reopens at 2 Buchanan Street after five-month closure
  • New features of the extensive refurb include upgraded interview rooms and open-plan spaces, a brand-new Premier Centre, and enhanced self-service machine wall
  • This forms part of HSBC UK’s pledge to invest £55 million into its branch network this year

The HSBC UK Glasgow branch has reopened its doors this week following a five-month refurbishment, unveiling a fully redecorated, redesignated space for customers and colleagues to enjoy.

The A-Listed building has been redesigned to improve the overall customer experience on every floor, providing a more welcoming, convenient and modern space for customers.

A remodeled, improved space

The entire ground floor layout has been upgraded to ensure an even smoother and more comfortable customer experience. This includes a new, modern meeting space where customers can receive fast service and tailored help, with a large seating space and height adjustable tablet tables to help customers with their digital needs. The three meeting rooms have been upgraded to two large, accessible customer booths and a new family interview room with a Lego Duplo wall and bean bags for customers with young children to relax in.

The customer waiting area has also been fully refurbished with new sofas and a powered low table. The self-service machine wall has also been extended in order to meet customer demand better during busy periods, with three additional multi-function devices and one additional Express banking machine now installed.

The basement floor now has new modern counters installed, as well as new, larger customer waiting areas and interview rooms. All interview rooms have been fully redecorated, with new furniture and an elevated open space on every floor for customers to enjoy.

On the first floor, a new Premier Centre has been designed in the bespoke style and colour scheme, including a new modern Reception desk. The space has been curated with a premium look and feel for Premier account customers to enjoy.

The whole branch has been fitted with new flooring and brighter LED lighting. Beautiful graphics, artwork and signage also now feature throughout, creating a brighter, airier space for customers.

HSBC UK’s commitment to community touchpoints

This latest refurbishment aligns to HSBC UK’s commitment to invest more than £55 million into its network of 327 branches this year, as well as its promise to keep all branches open until at least 2027.

On top of investing into its branch network, HSBC UK continues to expand the variety and number of banking touchpoints in local communities across the UK, including through HSBC Local events, shared Banking Hubs and Post Office locations.

Whilst the Glasgow branch was closed for refurbishment, HSBC UK opened a HSBC Local at Unit 29, Buchanan Galleries, 220 Buchanan Street, in order to support customers with their banking needs. This location has now closed as the branch has opened its doors.

Joanne Wade, HSBC UK’s area director, said: “Throughout the year, we have continued to invest millions of pounds into our branch network to create the best environment possible for our customers and colleagues.

“The extensive refurbishment we’ve completed at our Glasgow branch means that customers have a much more modern space to utilise for their banking needs, with a focus on upgraded, customer-friendly features.

“We are investing in community touchpoints across the UK, including our branches, banking hubs and community banking services. Customers are also increasingly using online and mobile banking to take control of their finances, turning to different channels for some interactions, which is why we also continue to invest in digital capabilities.

“Earlier this year, we introduced digital experts into our branches, who are trained to support customers with expanding digital skills and provide in-person guidance.

“Whatever the customer’s preference, we are here for them in Glasgow, and are excited to be welcoming them back to the new, upgraded branch.”
